Work of Secondary Air Injection.
It is the process where fresh air is injected into the exhaust stream to allow fuller combustion of exhaust gasses. Due to development of the technology, the amount of the emissions produced depends on the method of the air injection used, and it varies. Air Injection systems are in to two kinds. They are the aspirated air injection system and the pumped air injection system. The latter, uses the system of the vape pump called the smog pump. It is turned by the locomotive via electric motor or a belt. A turning screen filters the air as it enters to remove the large dirt particles that can damage the system. There is a check valve that prevents the exhaust from forcing its way back to the injection system which may harm the pump and the system. A diverter valve is used to prevent the startling and potentially damaging effects of the explosive combustion of this raw fuel.
Aspirated air injection uses the benefit of the negative pressure pulses in the exhaust system at engine idle. With this system, it uses a reed valve assembly that is sensitive called the aspirator valve which is placed in the air injection pump. Injection pump draws air directly from the clean side of the air filter. In the course of the process of engine idle, periodic but brief negative pressure pulses in the exhaust system. The air is drained through the aspirator valve and into the exhaust stream at the catalytic converter. This aspirator air injection system is vital in the sense that is inexpensive, less in weight, in excellent packaging and more unaffected in comparison to the pump air injection system.
There are a various benefits of secondary air injector that makes it exceptional. It helps clean up the remains hence assisting the car in to accomplish government emissions standards since the law obliges an engine system that does not emit volatile gases after the combustion of the fuel. It helps save the power when there is loose ends, leaks, or any other illogical overflow. It makes the performance of the car improve at a more significant deal since there is proper maintenance of pressure throughout the exhaust system for the smooth running of the vehicle. Smog pump can be removed and placed with a tool specially for this work which can help reduce weight and hence boost the power and performance of a car especially the racing cars.
Secondary air injection can break due to mechanical failure or constant use for a very long period. To support it; the vehicle owner needs to take the car for service. Repair of the system should be as soon as it shows signs of not performing. The owner of the vehicle should use the car for specified number of miles before and after the service to avoid the air injection systems breaking
